One thing that bothered me about that book, though
(Spoilers ahead!)
It bothered me that at the end Dr. Halalo got his wings ~*suddenly healed up*~ and he was able to fly back to Hunea that way. I'm glad that he was able to go back and visit his old home, but it was a whole thing that Audrey was developing assistive technology for people whose wings weren't able to fly (because she waited too late in life for her wings to develop that much). And it specifically mentioned how helpful this could also be for elderly and injured people.
So why couldn't he have flown home with one of Audrey's gliders? It would have also had a certain symmetry. Because she was able to travel down that path because of his care for her, so it would be the fruits of his help and teaching returning to him. :)

(and in general, the ending did seem a little fantastical for me compared to how "grounded" (lol) the rest of the book was. And there were some other minor "rub me the wrong way" moments at the end. Like how many animals ended up talking human languages? Like why would that be a central wish to so many? Unless it was for their survival. It just seems to be a bit of "fridge horror" for me.)
But overall, Wow! These are just nitpicks.

And especially seeing that they had the whole "assistive glider" subplot going already, it seemed like they missed an opportunity.
And I love How to Train Your Dragon a lot as well, and that's one of the many reasons why.
