Random benefits of 'Kin stuff...

This sort of got inspired by a group of artists I follow making a comic called "What's so Great About Multiplicity?".

And it made me think of the little, nice things that people might not immediately think of - but are still pretty much down to us being 'Kin in a "butterfly flaps it's wings" kind of way.

And one of those is Guild Wars 2!  I mean, in some ways, we pretty much got it for 'Kin reasons.  There is one species you can play as - the Sylvari - who are basically plant people who are part of a hivemind and who don't have the same conceptions of gender as humans.  Hey, it's basically us! :P

(they also have a big-cat-like animalistic (kind of furry-like) species, a species that's roughly humanoid (roughly based on jotuns) but shapeshifts and has totemic connections to various land and water animals, and a small goblin-esque species who have had to make what amounts to adaptive technology for *everything* in order to share space with the others, and consider that normal, and humans of course.)

And so we decided to get the game. Now , we have a mixed history with video games, where there are a lot (most, actually) we can't play "well enough" due to movement issues.  And others we love.  And we had friends actually being concerned that we might spend money on this game and then not be able to play  well enough and just end up frustrated.  But we knew that we would spend enough time playing with the character creator if nothing else. :P

Well, it turns out we're actually good at this game!  And we have really gotten into it, both on a gameplay/strategy level, and on a worldbuilding level.  (The worldbuilding and backstory is interesting as hell!)

And we now have one character who's reached Lvl 80, and one at 79!

(Lvl 80 is the "top" level, although there are a few things you can do above there especially with the expansions.  Some things you can only do at 80.  But the majority of the work with your charaters is getting them there. It's a big deal.)

Edit:  The game we mention here is now free to play at least the core parts of it.  There are some cool expansions you can get for $ but the basics are there for free.

Now that they've come out with a few expansions they've realized they can support the project on them and so the stuff I talk about here is now uup for anyone to download.

Oops, sent that before I realized I'd forgotten to add that a while back I had a friend — whom I haven't heard much from since about a year ago — who was really big into GW2 and would post some lovely videos of the art and music from the game, as well as of their characters. If I had the time to play, I might have got the game, myself.

:D It felt good to make a positive project!

Our brother liked to play Guild Wars 2 back in the day, though we never played it ourself.

Yay! That's awesome.

I am only mostly only one person, but I like being a cat. And I offline-know a person who is a wolf-person and enjoys a lot of little things about that. And know of lots of people who like being *themselves* despite pressure not to, and it really is the little awesome things that make one's day sometimes. Thanks for mentioning some of them that happen for you.
